Privacy Policy

Eyre Computer (ABN 20 143 071 165), a sole-trader business owned by Adam Pierik in Port Lincoln, South Australia, runs this website and the online store, repair and IT services described on it. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we look after it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

Orders: your name, email address, phone number, shipping address and the items you buy. Card and PayPal details are entered directly with our payment providers (Square and PayPal) and never reach our server.
Accounts: if you create an account, your name, email address and a hashed password, plus your order history.
Repairs and IT work: your contact details, a description of the fault, and whatever is needed to do the job. That can include access to a device and the data on it. We only look at the data we need to fix the problem.
Enquiries: what you send us by the contact form, email or phone.
Website usage: pages visited, device type and approximate location, collected by Microsoft Clarity so we can see how the site is used and fix problems. Clarity does not record what you type into forms. The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks for automated abuse.

Why we collect it

To process and ship orders, and to contact you about them.
To quote, carry out and invoice repairs and IT services, including warranty claims with manufacturers such as HP.
To keep tax and accounting records, which Australian law requires us to hold for at least five years.
To answer enquiries and provide support.
To keep the website and your account secure.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not send marketing email unless you ask for it.

Who we share it with

Payment providers: Square and PayPal, to take payment.
Delivery: Australia Post and freight carriers, to deliver your order (name, address and phone).
Suppliers and manufacturers: only where needed to drop-ship an item or lodge a warranty claim on your behalf.
Accounting: our invoicing and accounting software (Reckon One), which stores invoices and customer contact details in Australia.
Service providers: email and web hosting that we operate ourselves on servers in Port Lincoln and Australia, plus Microsoft Clarity and Google reCAPTCHA as described above.
Where the law requires it.

Some providers, including Square, PayPal, Microsoft and Google, process data on servers outside Australia under their own privacy policies.

Devices left for repair

We treat the data on your device as confidential. We do not copy it except where a backup is part of the agreed job, and we delete any working copies once the job is done. If a repair needs a factory reset or drive replacement we will tell you first. Please keep your own backup; we cannot guarantee data on a faulty device.

Cookies

The site uses a session cookie for your shopping cart and login, and Microsoft Clarity sets cookies to tell repeat visits apart. You can block cookies in your browser; the cart and login will not work without the session cookie.

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed. Order and customer data lives on systems we run and back up ourselves, with access limited to the owner. Card numbers are never stored by us.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have your account and non-essential records deleted. Email sales@eyrecomputer.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. Records we must keep by law, such as invoices, are retained for the required period. If you are not happy with how we handle a complaint you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
